Graham underscores immediate need at DC General Family Shelter

Washington, DC -- At a public oversight hearing on DC General Family Shelter, Thursday, February 28, 2013, held on site at the shelter, Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham, chairman of the Committee on Human Services, called for major change.

“Again and again, I’m reading reports about people who are warned about being intoxicated at DC General.  What we need is treatment and intervention not warnings,” Graham said.

Human Services officials responded that more needs to be done.
