Dear Friends:

I am pleased to be able to provide information regarding career opportunities at the soon to open Anthony Bowen YMCA at 1325 W St., NW in Ward 1. There are over 40 full time positions and over 100 part time positions available. The positions cover the full spectrum including Community Director, Child Care, Wellness, and Facilities Management.

The 23rd Annual DC Black Pride Weekend hosted by the Black Lesbian and Gay Pride Day, Incorporated (BLGPD) was off to a great start! I had the great opportunity to attend a wonderful opening reception held by organizers and members from the community to celebrate notable accomplishments and longevity of this outstanding organization. This year's theme, "Step Up and Be heard", provided the stage and energy for the events to follow.

A special dedication and grand opening ceremony was held for the newly established Family Resource Center named in honor of the late Honorable Eugene N. Hamilton at the Child and Family Services Agency. Honorable Eugene Hamilton spent his life advocating for youth inside and outside the courtroom, as he voluntarily transitioned his home into a safe haven for over 50 adolescents along with his natural children. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, the Honorable Eugene N.

Thank you Friends of Park View Park for sharing these wonderful pictures from your community gardening event held Saturday, May 18, 2013. Recently, you shared with us that neighbors were able to plant over 30 potted plants, along with bulbs and seeds in front of the Park View Recreation Center! This is absolutely outstanding.
