La Clinica Del Pueblo Grand Opening in Mt. Pleasant

La Clínica del Pueblo held its Grand Opening for their new Mt. Pleasant site on June 8th. The new site, located at 3055 Mt Pleasant Street, NW, will house the operations of the clinic’s youth program, Mpodérate! This program is totally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Mpodérate! builds on La Clínica’s 20 year history of fighting the HIV epidemic in the Latino community through programs that create a safe and supportive space in which to strengthen individuals and community.

I thought a Council Resolution was in order and here we are presenting it to them at the event. Check out our pictures.

Congratulations and Thank You to Clinica Del Pueblo for all of its fine work.

Welcome Uptowner Cafe to Adams Morgan

Here we are today, at the site of the new Uptowner Cafe and Market in Adams Morgan. That's the co-owner Anise Kang cutting the ribbons and next to me on the right is the other owner Eun Joo Park. And of course that's Wilson Reynolds, my constituent services director, in the hat. He just happens to be chairman of ANC 1C and the Uptowner is in his single member district.

The old Caribou Coffee  site has been empty for nearly three years. That's far too long. We are so happy to have the Uptowner in our Ward now at 2421 18th Street. They are very popular downtown near George Washington University where they have two locations at 20th and G and  24th and M. Streets. They also have eight other locations around the region.

Joining Lynda this year are:

Tavon Hailes of Booker T. Washington H.S.  and Rocio Ramirez of Cardozo H.S. both of  whom will attend Montgomery College, Bianca Wiles of Cardozo who will attend Clark-Atlanta University, Norka De Jesus of Bell Multicultural H.S. who will attend Hood College and Shakayla Mclean of Maya Angelou who will attend Mountain State Univeristy.

Congratulations Ward One Graduates.
